Moreover, storing items in a humidity controlled storage cabinet (e.g., <5%RH, <10%RH, 40 deg C baking for sensitive electronics) can also effectively reduce moisture exposure and prevents microcracking.

The electronic drying storage cabinet uses a 5A molecular sieve, which is the latest dehumidifying technology. The system is controlled by a microcomputer. When the indoor humidity is high, it starts to absorb moisture; when the humidity reaches the set value, it stops absorbing water and discharges the water outside. This cycle repeats itself and is controlled automatically.

This chart shows, in the ambient 25 degree C, humidity 50%RH, open door 30 seconds and then close, the humidity can recover to the set point within 30 minutes.

PCB boards, whether blank or populated with components, are sensitive to environmental factors, particularly humidity. Here’s why a dry cabinet is often necessary:
The time it takes for a dry cabinet to reduce humidity levels to below 5% RH depends on several factors, including the cabinet’s size, the initial humidity level, the type of dehumidifying system, and how much moisture is present in the items stored.
Under normal circumstances, when the ambient temperature is 25 deg C and the humidity is < 60%RH, if the door opening time is within 15 seconds, the humidity can reach below 5%RH within 15-30 minutes.
